 Workplace with the Kids

Hello Everyone!
One thing I forgot to share is that in America they have street lights vertical designed.. Well here it's opposite.. their designed horizontally!!

Kids..
The kids are quite funny... Asian kids are much easier to teach than most kids in America I have to say. Of course not all kids are difficult to handle in the states.. but here the overall jist of the kids have a better value of education than back home... The kids here are VERY active.. and I'm not exaggerating that either.. in some ways too much education academically that is. I've heard they have school on saturdays and even some evenings!!! crazy!! I like having my hobbies in the evenings.. In one sense, they view classroom education as a hobby which in some ways can be a good thing but then again, I think it's important to stay physically active in an actual experience than in the books alll the time..

The kids were going through a shock period seeing me with blonde hair and blue eyes.. yes us species do exist.. hahaha.. So first hour in the morning I have kindergarten where it's circle time.. We sing a song of the week everyday til the end of the week. And keep up the practice so they keep practice English and especially in song.. haha.. I have to get them to talk about their weekend, or what they did when they went home.. How do they feel? Why do you feel that way? What they had for dinner? I need to get them to talk the first minutes of the morning. Kind of like a homeroom time. Well basically a homeroom time... Then they have snack, where I get a little break. Then I work with the same (10 kids) for journal time.. about what to talk about... In the homeroom time, they have a question of the week. So that gives me something to talk about.. thank goodness! This week is careers.. so I could get them to write and draw about things like their mom's job, dad's job, grandpa's job. Why they chose it? What do they do? How do they do it? What makes it special? That kind of thing.

My homeroom can be a handful sometimes.. Albert is a cutie but can be a pain sometimes.. you have to make sure your not too friendly with them, because they think they can get away with anything. Albert is the most talkative and goofy.. haha.. Wendy can be timid but a cutie.. Lauren is really funny.. she's a real cutie.. she's a kid that likes to draw ALOT so I connect with her real well especially since I'm an artist myself! =) And then I teach other classes that basically are phonics, language arts, sounds and letters.. I have to make sure I talk SLooowwWWW .. hahah.. something that is really good for me.. and I have to always correct their pronunciation and make sure they saying the right letters within the words and all that jazz...

Actually one of my classes today was quite fun to teach... it was really funny because I thought that the class ended at 5:15pm.. so I said " bye Kids! " then I go to the staff room .. and my co-worker says to me " the bell didn't ring yet? you still have 15 more minutes." WOOOPPSSS!! It was really funny..welll the class was happy that we got our work done early.. so we played pictionary on the board.. and they got all excited because they usually play hangman.. haha.. but it was quite a riot...
It's interesting because there is one kid in my class who's kinda quarky and I didn't understand why he acted a certain way.. and my co-worker Allister from New Zealand told me that he's autistic... ahhh.. no wonder! I've worked with those kids before.. he's actually doing pretty well for being autistic... he definitely has some funny behaviors but is doing well... I just have to make sure he understands everything more closely..

Now in the school that I work at and what I've noticed around here is the kindergarten to elementary schools (at least, I don't know much about the high schools) are WITHIN a building.. they don't have their own building like the states.. the school I work at is on the 4th and 5th floor. Which I felt was odd for me.. but I'm getting used to it..

Also, what's funny about my school is that since it's a specifically an English Language School, the kids are NOT ALLOWED to speak korean in school. Only when absolutely necessary. There is even the English Police. One of the kids in each homeroom class has a kid that plays the english police. So when they hear a kid speaking korean they say, "Jason is speaking korean!" =) I'll take a video.. it's really funny to watch..

I went for a run around the river yesterday.. I saw I think 3 foreigners like me!! yay.. I'm not the only white person in the area... haha... It was okay.. there was alot of nats flying around.. but I had some koreans gave me a wave "Hi!" and some gave me stares like "I've never seen that kind of person before". I wonder if any of them have seen a red haired gal? Probably not..
anyways.. that's all for today..
