Dogs will win every time.

It was almost impossible to wake up today. I managed to get dressed and eat breakfast, then power walk over to class. I was power walking mainly because it was raining and freezing, not because I was late. I got there early, actually. I had on about 100 layers but made a poor life choice with my shoes and had very cold feet. I wish there was some way to make a joke about that. Class was good, and when we got out there were signs all over the building saying that classes at UAB were cancelled due to a snow storm that was coming in (we never saw snow by the way) and I guess a lot of the professors commute to Barcelona so they just cancelled everything. I was very excited because I didn't want to have to walk to the other campus later. I bought a sandwich (cheese & tomato on seasoned bread) and walked back. I was so excited I didn't have class i stopped at the Mercadona (grocery store chain) and bought some chocolate. My cashier's name was Maria and I was pretty excited...best day ever.

Anywho so I got to take my Thursday to sleep and relax. Gloria made us noodle soup (with an egg in it - it was really good) with fried fish and sauteed mushrooms. Mmm. Tomorrow I have my first meeting with my intercambio partner - it's a program I signed up for that pairs you with someone who wants to learn your language and you want to learn theirs. So, tomorrow i'm meeting with a Spanish student that wants to learn more English (and I want to learn more Spanish!) and we'll see how that goes. It's always strange to me to meet people for the first time kind of blind like that, but I'm sure it'll be fine.

I forgot to mention that the other day I was walking when I saw a lady pushing a baby carraige. "Aw," I thought, "baby! Cool." When we actually passed eachother, however, I saw that she had two dogs cuddled under blankets in the baby carraige. I almost died. Dogs are way cuter than babies, sorry. Dogs will win every time. I kind of had to wonder, though, what the point was to bring them out if they weren't going to get exercise. Maybe they just wanted fresh air but not to mess up their hair. There's a lot of dogs here that wear sweaters (probably not voluntarily) and I thought it was weird until I saw a little dog shivering yesterday. Now I get it. I probably wouldn't be surprised if I saw a dog wearing a scarf and mittens, it's been so cold here. Once I even saw a dog wearing a leather vest...with pockets. I'm assuming the pockets were to hold its iPod.
