Today all of us departed for Cuenca, another city up in the mountains. The bus ride there was questionable. It did have a lot of nice scenery along the way, but we didn’t stop anywhere where we could take some cool photos or anything like that. Supposedly we were to stop at some church and have lunch there, but instead we at lunch in front of a gas station on the bus. 6 hour drive. When we arrived at Cuenca I could tell I liked it right away. Didn’t have that dirty big city look like Guayaquil. It had an old fashioned look to it. Well it was old. The hotel we stayed at was actually pretty nice on the inside. We all quickly dispersed out into the city to explore. At first it was a little difficult because it started poring rain. I and Patrick had made it to the cathedral. It was very big and beautiful, over a hundred years old. Crazy think about how they could making something like that over a hundred years ago. We walked around the city just wondering, really trying to find the market place. Well we wondered for I don’t know how long until we ran into others from JU that knew exactly where to go. When we found it the first thing we say was guinea pigs being cooked. Perfect. Me and Patrick were looking for some because its on our to do list while in Ecuador. We decided that after we walked around the market for a while we try it. So that how it went. The lady that was cooking it for us very nice. She told us that it tasted like chicken. I could tell Patrick was getting a little nervous. Me at this point I was so hungry I didn’t care what I was about to eat, as long as it didn’t tast bad, but how was I to know. Well it tastes like chicken, no doubt about that. The only bad part about guinea pigs is that there isn’t a lot of meat on them, but these guinea pigs are also a lot bigger than the ones you find in pets stores in the U.S.. Which made me and Patrick question, that we hope this was a guinea pig we just ate or an oversized rat. We actually didn’t eat the whole thing. There was a homeless guy next to us and we gave him the half we didn’t eat. He was very happy with that. I didn’t get to enjoy the night life there. But I didn’t really feel like going out. So four of us just stayed in and hung out in the hotel. Played some card games. It was fun night still.
