Today group three went to Dominga Bocca. This place is a home for girls who have been sexually abused in some way. I know a lot of the guys in all the groups were worried about how the girls would react to them considering what has happened to them. It was explained to us that us being there would have a good impact on them. And they like it when guys come because they get to see there are good men in the world. And when we arrived they were all very nice, polite, and seemed very excited to see everyone. But of course first things first, work. There was one room that needed painting, tape was all set, but first we had to do the edges which took time. So four of us started doing that while very one else hung out with the girls there. After the edging was done the painting didn’t take long at all. A long time had passed but it seemed short. Right when we finished our lunch had arrived. We ate in the kitchen and one of the ladies of the house talked to us about the school. She told us about the abuse some of the girls had gone through. Again negligent parents, being a banded. All very sad. It was good knowing that there is a place for them. If not it would be the streets or worse. And the ones that had it the worst seem to be doing very very well. We were told that the girls there like to dance. I told myself that I would be sitting out on the dancing, but I found that there was no escaping it. At first I was safe. They put on the music and some of them started dancing with the just the other girls, but they were really waiting for the boys to get up and start. Well lets just say none of us were in a big hurry to start dancing. But they weren’t having that, and eventually one came over and grabbed me by the arm and pulled me out on the designated dance floor area. Well I danced, a little embarrassing, only because I knew my friend Patrick would take photos and probably a video clip of me dancing and show all our friends back home. Not to worry because I god some good ones of him dancing too. But any embarrassment passed because I saw how happy it made them to dance and interact with us. So all in all it was a good time. The majority of them had some kind of journal they wanted us to right in. It easy to tell are little visit made their day, maybe their year, don’t know. When are bus had arrived we didn’t leave for some time. Everyone wanted to take a picture with everyone which made it nearly impossible to leave. Eventually we did, but now without some struggle, the girls didn’t want to let some of the guys go.
