 Koala Walkabout

January 10th we had to get up for 9am breakfast with the weirdest, slimy eggs, bacon that is basically strips of ham, and some delicious toast and hash browns with fruit salad. We met at 945 to take the train from Central Station to Circular Quay (pronounced like "key"). This is Sydney's harbor station. Once there we took a ferry to Taronga Zoo. We still aren't sure of the Zoo is on it's own island or not but we had to take a gondola from the base to the entrance. There was a Koala encounter area but they were only in the trees, you were unable to hold one. We were able to get pretty close to kangaroos and wallabies, I almost seized in excitement. We also saw tazmanian devils, wombats, snow leopards, walked through several aviaries, a seal show, elephants and MANY A TURTLE! We stayed until around 430/5pm, took the ferry back and walked over to the opera house. It's such a cool looking structure, the front windows remind me of knight's helmets. We grabbed McDonald's (the box said "Aussie Beef" and I got excited, haha) and then Starbucks. Hell yeah. Headed back to pack and be lazy. From just those few hours of strong sunlight I got bad burns on my upper shoulder areas. I need to learn how to put sunblock on and make it part of my daily routine.
