 A hostel? Are you kidding?

Brynn and Rian are the orientation leaders who we met at the exit of the terminal. Before that, however, we exchanged the little cash that we had. AUD are so pretty. All different sizes, colors and they each have a different symbol in clear plastic somewhere on the note. We all loaded onto a coach bus (which had seatbelts, by the way, weird) and made our way *on the OTHER side of the road, ahhh* to the YHA. Little did we know that this was a hostel. Six girls to a room. 3 sets of bunk beds. Welcome to 3rd grade again everyone. At least Linds, Kyra and I were in the same room. We loaded all of our luggage in and had a boring Australia briefing. Fanny = BIG NO NO, here it means a woman's certain private part. Hahaha. Just so everyone knows. After the briefing, we had free time, so we walked over to the mall that was basically a large china town. The process at this establishment was different from normal restaurants... we sat down at any table we wanted, looked at the menu, walked up to the counter, ordered, and sat back down. Our food came, it was pretty good..and the cool thing is, they don't tip in Australia. Their minimum wage is high enough that tips do not need to supplement their income. Overall it was a decent aussie lunch for $12 AUD. The weather has been cloudy with misty rain and around 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Sydney Skytower is next on the list. It is the tallest building in the entire city and has overlook views of pretty much every part. There was a ride as a part of the experience that told us about each section of Australia (the rainforest, outback, city life, etc...) and I got some pictures from the observation deck.

It took about a billion hours to finally leave the tower because we couldn't find two of the girls. Anyway, we stopped at a pub and everyone hated us for taking up all the room. No one knew what to order so they all got beer, which I found amusing. I was lightheaded from the plane so I wasn't interested in that just yet. We stayed for a while and then went upstairs to Alice Thai. We had our welcome dinner choc' full of food including- chicken satee, spring rolls, white rice, vegetables galore, beef, sweet and sour pork, and some amazingly delicious potato/chicken/beef mixture with a sauce I have never tasted before. I was so full, my stomach cramped up from the walk. For desert (so classy) we had grapes and Asian pears. They were so good- the texture and crisp of an apple with the flavor of a pear. After dinner, we came back, showered and passed out.
