with a lot of serious help of my outstanding mother, my coordinators in both schools and my family, things are finally starting to fall into place
In less than 2 days I'll be on a plane, traveling to Brussels, Belgium where I will be living, studying, traveling and adventuring for the next FIVE MONTHS!! Preparing to go abroad has been one of the most stressful experiences I've ever dealt with, but with a lot of serious help of my outstanding mother, my coordinators in both schools and my family, things are finally starting to fall into place and I couldn't be more excited to get to my new home and settle in.
I have the address of the host family I'll be living with, and apparently I'll be sharing the house with two other girls who are studying at Vesalius College this semester as well. I'm told there's only one bathroom in the house so I'm a little worried about sharing it with two chicks, but I'm sure I'll manage. We'll be staying with Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert and Paquita Piette, an older couple who has been sheltering students who study abroad at Vesalius College for twelve years now! I'm told Mrs. Piette only speaks Spanish, which will be interesting and kind of fun to brush up the language I studied for five years in middle school and high school. She is supposed to be a fantastic cook as well, so it sounds like I have some good cuisine to look forward to while I'm over there! Mr. Piette speaks English, Spanish and Dutch as well I believe, hopefully I'll pick up some Dutch from him that I can use to impress everyone when I come home, I hear it's a difficult language to learn.
Anyway I still don't have all of my things packed so I need to work on that for the rest of the day. The picture you see is of my brand spankin new, super bad ass suitcase that mama got me for Christmas! It's the best and most practical gift I could have asked for. My next entry will be from across the pond! Everyone should keep an eye out for postcards too. I'm sorry if I don't get one to everyone, I'll try to include as many people as I can in the ones I know they'll get to see.
Here's my address over there:
Chaussee de Wavre 1271
1160 Brussels
Don't forget you can also download Skype and talk to/see me with that program. Search for "slightlydaveywebster" to add me to your contacts. You can also always get in touch with me through my school e-mail (dbw2939@esu.edu), on AIM (screenagers0), or here on this blog in the comments section.
Signing off for now, looking forward to writing about all the fun things I do while I'm over there... hope I don't forget my toothbrush!
