We have been here for a week now and as a group have experienced a lot so far. Living in an eco-village is much different than what I am use to but it really is fascinating. I love how the community focuses on recycling, uses compost, conserves water, and many other eco-friendly activities. All aspects of the community seem so practical and I wonder why more people do not do the same. Also the houses in Huehuecoyotl are absolutely beautiful. Each one is very unique. They all are very colorful and are constructed in a variety of shapes. The community seems so peaceful and gorgeous. I feel extremely relaxed when I am here.

One of my favorite experiences so far is going into the market in Tepoztlan. I love the atmosphere of all the people. It is a good way to interact with others and practice our Spanish. I am glad we had Kevin who had arrived earlier to take Spanish classes to show us around while Gio did some shopping. We found some amazing artwork that a few people bought. We also found a nice coffee place that served chay and an ice cream place that everyone seemed to love. The market was fairly busy and at first I felt overwhelmed by it all. We were told that it was a slow day too. It was definitely very exciting and I cannot wait to go back.

Another part I have enjoyed is our hikes. It is nice to get some exercise especially after eating all the delicious foods that has been cooked for us. Also when hiking we are able to see the community from a different perspective. I like seeing the other various surrounding towns from up above as well as the different wildlife. I think the best part was being able to see the volcano in the distance. I was surprised by how tall it actually was.

Also as a group we have started our meetings for the project that we are going to develop for the community. We have decided to interview members and see what they feel would be a good project for us to do that will improve their community. We have come up with some ideas ourselves but we want to hear what their needs are. I love getting to know all of the community members. I cannot wait to choose our project and start working on it.
