Today is our last day in Edinburgh.  We are doing quite a bit of traveling now and rarely stay in a place for one night or two at the most.  I’m going to start packing an overnight bag so I don’t have to haul my big bag everywhere.

We started the day by seeing yet another castle.  This one highlighted the military of England.  It was actually quite interesting.  I learned about how what it would have been like to be part of the militia.  There were a lot of things that I hadn’t considered, such as dealing with the elements.  From there we went to Calton Hill, which was spectacular!  It was as much of a hike as a thought it’d be, but that’s okay.  At the top there was a lot of unique monuments.  There was one that looked like the Parthenon that commemorated the soldiers.  Unfortunately, the monument was never finished, so it was just one line of pillars.  There were other monuments as well.  There was one that looked like a lighthouse that was really cool.  Another great thing about the hill was that I could see the whole city from there.  I could also see the sea, but it was a cloudy, rainy day and it just all looked kind of gray.  There are a lot of rainy and cloudy days here, so sunshine is rare and appreciated!

The rest of my day wasn’t particularly exciting.  I ran some errands, went out to eat and watch the game, exercised, and then packed.  I also got to talk to my mom tonight.  I miss her so much.  I like England, but I wish my family could be here with me.  I’ve never felt this homesick before, but talking to her helped.
