We got to sleep in today, which was really nice.  I love getting a good night’s sleep.  It makes it easier for me to keep awake on the bus the next day.  I really got a chance to admire the scenery.  The beauty of Scotland is breathtaking.  I take pictures, but they never quite reflect what I’m seeing.  On our way to Oban, we stopped at the famous Loch Ness!  I have to admit I was rather excited about it, even if just to say that I’ve been there.  I really would like to believe that there is a sea monster living in the loch.  I’m not entirely convinced, but I’d like to think that there is.  I bought a book about the Loch Ness monster, affectionately known as Nessie.  I’m going to give it to my sister who’s seven so she can learn about it.

I also got another history lesson today.   We went on this exhibition that told us about the murder of the MacDonald clan in Glencoe.  The video was especially good.  I don’t know how the Campbell’s could kill them after spending all that time bonding with them.  The center also had beautiful trails that we could enjoy.  I only had time for a short one unfortunately.  I would love to do some hiking in that area.  The weather was perfect for it and the view can’t be beat.

We loaded back on the bus and arrived in Oban.  Our hotel is very nice and I’m happy that we get to stay somewhere for more than one night.  After enjoying a delicious supper at the steak house, we went out to a ceilgh for Dr. H’s birthday!  We had a pink sash for her and everything.  I loved the celigh.  I felt like I really got to experience the Scottish culture.  The music and dancing were simply spectacular.  It was interesting to hear their sad songs about their history.  They expressed their sadness in music, just like we do today.  Other songs were less sad and more entertaining.  The highland dancing was especially fun to watch.   It looked like it took a lot of effort!  I also enjoyed participating in the dances.  They were so lively and lots of fun.  When the band finished for the night, they had a DJ that played club music and we enjoyed some modern dancing.  It was nice to enjoy both the old and the new.
