Today we went to Haworth, home to the Bronte parsonage.  I loved reading Jane Eyre and it was fantastic to see where they grew up and all the history surrounding the town.  I tried to imagine what it would be like to grow up there, but failed.  It's so different from anything I'm accustomed to, and not just in the setting of England, but the time-period itself.

I loved walking around this quaint little town and wish I would have had more time there.  I tried Yorkshire pudding for the first time!  It was pretty good actually.  I'm in England, so I figured it's just something I need to do.

I learned some more about how schooling works here.  They have trimesters, so there courses don't last as long.  And courses are called "modules".  And your "course" is your major.  When I said I was taking 5 courses, that caused some confusion!  They refer to university as "uni".  I also discovered that their course work is a lot more centered on their major then it is at the universities in the States.  For example, I'm a math major, but I'll be taking a lot of humanities, sciences, and general education courses among others to complete my degree.  The universities want the students to be "well-rounded" and knowledgeable in subject matter beyond their major.  Here, however, you only take courses directly related to your subject area.

Tomorrow we are free to do some exploring on our own and I'm looking forward to it!
