Today we got to go see Robin Hood!  I was very excited for this because I have loved almost all of Russell Crowe's movies.  I loved Gladiator and Cinderella Man and was excited to see his performance in this movie.  I am rather fond of movies set back in time as they can offer us a glimpse of what life was like then.  And though history may be not always be depicted correctly, I think that directors can take some creative liberties with that to show how things could or should have been.  Movies that are of any past era are fascinating and allow us to delve into a world that is not the one we are accustomed to.

That being said, I really enjoyed this movie.  I particularly liked the scenes of the beautiful English countryside that they fought in.  It really made me appreciate the beauty of this country.  I didn't know that this movie was about the beginnings of Robin Hood rather than about his famous life as an outlaw, and it was interesting to see how they depicted his beginnings.  It kind of reminds me of "Wicked" in that "Wicked" gave me a whole new perspective on "The Wizard of Oz" and so this film also changed how people view Robin Hood.

I also thought the acting was very good.  The characters were very well portrayed and I enjoyed the performances.  However, I must say this is not my favorite Russell Crowe film.  The plot was hard to follow at times and failed to really captivate me and make me empathize with the characters.  However, it was very enjoyable, and while I won't be rushing to the store to buy the DVD, I really liked it and am glad that I went to see it :)
