Stories from my Madrid Adventures!

So this journal blog thing is kind of confusing, first I have to make an entry, and then I make the actual journal I believe??? So we're going to try this :) So this will be where I'm storing all the journals for what takes place from now until August 9

This entry is actually from 3pm yesterday, but the internet freaked and I could only save it as a draft :(  Here it is!:

Let's see what's been happening recently...yesterday after seeing the World Cup, I FINALLY got a real amount of groceries, which means enough to live off of for like a week rather than just buying coffee, cereal, and chips...haha.  I definitely bought a very American variety of grocieries, mainly because the grocery store was quite confusing compared to a Meijers or Walmart, lol.

Last night I went out with Valerie and Laura, the two French girls that live with me.  It was really fun getting to hang out with them, and they introduced me to some of their friends that were there with them as well.  The nice thing is that most of them spoke decent English and even better Spanish (although some were better English and horrible Spanish!) so it was really easy to communicate.  Not gonna lie, it was pretty entertaining combining three languages for a night...and now I officially know 6 French sayings instead of just 5! LOL.  I'm really excited how well I've been clicking with those 2 girls and the funny thing is I feel like they are very similar to me in terms of personality and values, just with a slightly different accent and different upbringing!  Its strange to think that you can connect with people so well despite having so many language and cultural barriers.

We ended up going to hang out at the apartment next door where some of their friends lived, and then went out to the discoteca later.  The place was called "Joy" (why Spanish clubs always have random English words for their name is beyond me), and it served mainly the foreigners living in Madrid.  There were some Spaniards there as well, but mainly French, German, and Americans...yay for meeting people from other countries!  We ended up leaving a little before 6, and by the time we got back the sun was coming up...its been forever since I've seen a sunrise before going to bed, lol.  Good thing we didn't have anything to do the next day, because the three of us just woke up about an hour ago.  I guess that means I'm back on American time for a day, lol.

Well anywho, I'm off to get ready to go watch the World Cup tonight!! America vs. England!  Should be interesting since we're going to an Irish pub that will probably be dominated by British people.
