Highlights

  • Sleeping in until 2

I would say that the rest of my weekend definitely went well...Saturday pretty much the entire apartment slept in until at least 1:00, and a few of the girls didn't get up til like 3 or 4...apparently very typical for the weekends here though seeing as Spanish people are all about having fun but not missing out of a single moment of rest.  The day was pretty eventful, but at night all us roommates went out to a place called Kapital since we heard its quite well known for Madrid.  The place was INSANELY huge...7 stories!  The top floor was a really cool classy cocktail bar, then the floor below was the same but slightly less high class...the other 5 floors had different types of music with a distinct environment from all the other floors.  There was also a karaoke floor, which no one from our group participated in (LAME).  Needless to say, there were more than plenty of things to do in this place and it was definitely one of the favorite places we've ever visited!  We ended up taking the taxi back around 5:30 and were ridiculously tired....also the sun comes up quite early over here, so that was the first time I've ever gone to bed with it being completely light out...lol.

So as time continue on, here's some more things I've been gradually learning about Madrid:

-Mullets come in many different styles, and are still very happening

-People STILL do not know how to walk in a way that doesn't cause complete chaos and a total human traffic jam

-Lady Gaga and David Guetta are quite highly admired here....even if the people might not understand what they're singing

-The loudness outside at night isn't so bad to sleep through once you get used to it

-Cop car sirens sound ridiculous and are very difficult to take seriously

-La Calle de Montera street sells VERY good shoes...for VERY cheap

-I can work the stove!!!  Still baking pizzas by putting them in the microwave for 10 minutes though...haha

-Apparently the phrases "Oh my gosh" and "wow" are extremely American

-I'm still amused by the extreme classiness of McDonalds here and the fact that there are probably at least 40 Starbucks in the city and I walk past probably 5 or 6 on my 10 minute walk to work
