So this journal blog thing is kind of confusing, first I have to make an entry, and then I make the actual journal I believe??? So we're going to try this :) So this will be where I'm storing all the journals for what takes place from now until August 9

So its kind of funny because this first weekend was pretty boring and uneventful, and it made me concerned that that's how the rest of the program would be....so I made an effort to get to know everyone and be social so that I could avoid that happening, and it turned out I've actually been making quite a few friends these past few days!  I went to my language class (I'm only doing this for the first two weeks) and met some of the girls from the Adelante program, and by the end of the day, we all ended up getting dinner today and touring around the city.  They are really nice and welcoming with everyone, which is a step up from the last program I was involved in where I met a lot of stuck of people who were having everything funded by their parents and were definitely hard to connect with....(thank goodness I met Lisa, lol).  They're also really excited about my birthday coming up and are looking forward to celebrating it with me :)  In addition, I'm starting to speak with some of my roommates more, despite the cultural barriers.  The two french girls that live in the room next to me have been really fun to get to know, and we made an attempt to go out last night (which failed) and ended up talking/making fun of each other's accents lol.  They're also very clean unlike some of the other roomies here, so that's another added bonus that helps us get along...haha.

I'm pretty sure I finally have met all my roommates, and although some are more social than others, they're all very easy to get along with...and considering the fact that there's 10 of us living under one roof, everyone seems to be pretty at peace with each other.   There aren't even any bathroom wars in the morning...lol...although it is a little hard to get your laundry done when 9 other people are trying to do their's at the same time!

So far its been really easy to get the hang of the city, and I only live about a 15 minute walk from work and 10 minutes from the language school, which I LOVEEE.  The walk is really interesting as well and there's a lot to see.  I discovered how close I am to the Plaza Mayor yesterday and it made me really happy :)  And I'm soooo relieved and lucky to have such a good living location where pretty much everything is within a 10 minute walk or under...and I'm also surrounded by good shops, restaurants, and theaters...YAY.

I had another orientation/interview for my internship, this time at the actual business location, and they are letting me start up regular hours today already!  I feel pretty fortunate, seeing as most people aren't starting until the 21st or so after language classes are done, and the working environment seems really nice.  WOOT!

Its been a crazy past two days, and I know time is only going to go faster!  Between work, off site work activities, and all the other random stuff I want to see this summer, it should be a pretty good time....I feel super lucky to have had things go so smoothly...I don't know if its because I'm just becoming more adaptable to things or because I used up all my bad luck during past work experiences or something, but I'm liking it so far!
