EricaOverbeek's Travel Journals

What was your most challenging travel experience?

When I studied abroad the winter semester of my sophomore year, I was only 19 years, and had to learn how to travel and adapt to an entirely new culture on my own. The first few weeks were definitely rough, but it quickly turned out to be the best experience of my life and I have grown more than I ever could have imagined from it.

Stories from my Madrid Adventures!

So this journal blog thing is kind of confusing, first I have to make an entry, and then I make the actual journal I believe??? So we're going to try this :) So this will be where I'm storing all the journals for what takes place from now until August 9

Highlights

  • Seeing the Madrid summer weather come back again!! No more clouds and rain!

Well, not too much has happened since yesterday...we've been hanging out with 3 Latvian girls who have been staying here for the week, and yesterday all the roommates went out at night.  Its still strange to me having to wait so late and then not go out until like 1 in the morning but at least Saturday's allow for sleeping in!  We went to the discoteca Joy again with quite a few people....all the roommates were though, although pretty much everyone ended up leaving at 3ish...then the French girls and I left around 4.  We all slept in quite late and have been kind of lazing around for the day since....today was the first day in a while when it was quite warm and very sunny out!  I'm glad the cold's finally gone...although I will probably regret saying that when its 40 degrees celsius and we're all stuck up here on the 4th floor with no air conditioning.

I have to say, I've been enjoying the weekends because it gives me some time to get to know the city and just relax, but I think I'm ready to get out of the phase and do some traveling now!  Thank goodness Ibiza is next weekend, it'll be nice to start doing some exploring...

I believe that's all for now...tonight I think think the roommates and I are going to a place called Kapital, that is apparently quite famous to Madrid.  Arturo wants to make sure the Latvians have a good weekend while they're over here!
