Somehow I have managed to stumble upon one of the most enchanting places I have seen during my travels. I am staying in the town of Kalambaka at the foothills of an unusal mountain range that resembles something out of a Dali painting. Walking through the forested and hilly landscape and visting the many monastries on the very tops of the mountains has been one of the highlights of my entire travels. The place that I am alking about is Meteora and I would strongly recommend it to travellers in Greece! It has been a contrast to Crete which was overall kinda crap. We had lots of bad luck there and I was glad to leave the place even if doing so involved a 9hr hellish boat trip through the night ,sleeping under my seat surrounded by the shiftiest bunch of travellers I have ever seen.They loved blasting their bizarre moaning music out of their shonky tape recorders and mobiles at 3am, while their children were curled up in the corner of the boat,trying to sleep beside their mothers...

I am heading to athens again today and will get a flight to london the day after next. My travels will be shorter than I orginally intended. Due to various complications I will be back in sydney by mid november instead of the beginning of January. Holidays can't last forever afterall !

I take pics of lots of things but you know me I am endlessly impressed by mountains, hills and trees. I will try to add a city pic for you next time.
