Just a note to let you know that we are two days into the program and in full swing on New Year's eve. Students have had orientation, tour of Huehue, course outline and most have had one on one with me or Kathy. We also went for a hike this morning and started to work on academic material focused on Group dynamics and diversity using text by Joanna Macy and Manuel Manga that I've included in their study materials.. I have also given them the CO2 assignment that Dan sent me to do on the internet. Two of the students have registered and the others need some coaxing.  I plan to use much of the materials covered in the social dimension of the Gaia Education curriculum with a strong emphasis on Facilitation, communication, and empowerment. And I have started to give them assignments from their reading, which they are doing with a good amount of rigor. Tonight the students will visit Tepoztlan and get a feeling for New Years celebration in Mexico. Then they will come back to a community celebration, and new years count down. Tomorrow we have scheduled a visit to the Xochicalco ruins and to take the new light-and-sound show there. It should a spectacular way to welcome the new year.
