Today is Saturday Dec 26th. Huehuecoyotl is very quiet after the Christmas holiday. Most people are either out visiting relatives or on their way to the beach, the coast of Oaxaca, or Veracruz.
We had lovely communal dinners for the past three days and I feel very full. Today I am preparing the space to receive students, making sure the thermosolar water heater is working and that there is plenty of water in the communal house where most of the classes will take place the first week.
I have made a final draft of the schedule and will continue to contact people who will be giving guest workshops during the course. Already I have comitments from people doing various art activities, biregionalism talks, history of the region, personal economics, and more. I also have been talking with the contacts for the field trip to Totolapan, which will happen the first week of January. It should be exciting, as that is a look into deep Mexico. Totolapan is an amazing town that preserves the image and spirit of old Mexico with a modern awareness. Can't wait to talk the group there for a three night stay and some service learning projects.
I need to make a trip to the office supply store to finish up some course prep and then I'll ride to the airport on Tuesday to meet the students and bring them back to Huehue. I'm excited.
