What was the saddest moment you have ever seen in your travels?

all the women that came up to me in Paris and italy that held pictures of little children and they asked for money. is it true or are they scamming? who knows. i just know that if i didnt give them seomething whether they were lying or not i would be heartless.

The electric outlest have to be switched on. on each electrical outlet theres a little switch that you must click for it to work. i learned that because i plugged my stuff in and nothing worked. haha then tara's cousin was like duuuhhhhhh you have to turn em on. we were like ohhhhhh.

all the faucets have 2 spouts. one for hot one for cold, now we have some of those back in the states but we mostly have one faucet where you can adjust for warm water. theres no warm water here for washing hands. you must pick your poison REALLY HOT or REALLY COLD haha washing my face is a hassle

The Irish are very eco friendly. they do loads of recycling and have recycling bins in all the appartments and you must buy your shopping bags, as not to waste, and to reuse.

So many students dont have cars. they walk everywhere!!! walk walk walk walk walk!! my legs and feet are killlllling me!!!

Spar is like our Wawa.. but no gas station.. just a market in comparison.

the trash cans read "litter" to us litter is the crap on the ground. but i supposed that makes sense. litter is trash

like i said before, crack is fun haha so theyre not asking you if you want to do drugs, just if you want to have fun.

Pubs do not take credit card. Since the irish do tend to drink often, the pubs do not take credit card so that the irish will not outspend themselves at the pub, and that is the true reason! If you dont have cash to them that means you already drank all your money and probably shoulndt be spending money on more drinks anyways.

The weather is extremely inconsistent. good luck having an outside wedding in ireland.

Ireland has an extremely good educational system. im not going to find any easy classes, or as they call them, modules here.

My orientation leader says you know who's not Irish by if you see someone drinking a guiness at like 9 or 10 at night because the irish tend to save guiness for their last drink, or the drink to cure their hangovers the next day at around 12pm.

There is wild cats in ireland! i saw one las night after coming home from the pub and night club and i was petting him and he was so friendly. i tried making him my own but everyone i was with objected to my new friend and told me no :( hahah aww im having playing-with-animal withdrawl, i miss my pets! ((haha i posted this entry and after reading over it i realized "wild cats" is probably being misunderstood, i meant roaming domestic cats hahaha not real wild cats))

The irish dont like it when Americans say that they're irish. They think, no your not irish, your american. and it pisses them off. Where as in America we say, oh im irish and italian and welch.. but now that i think of it.. living in America really does offer its own culture so we're usually not part of the irish or german or italian cultures unless for instance you're in a huge family of italians and still represent your culture rather than american culture. but i guess i can see where theyre coming from. and why they would be annoyed. because if you know nothing about irish culture, yeah you may have it in your blood, and yeah your grandparents were irish, but you're really just american.

People let their dogs run free around here all the time! you'll see ppl walking and their dogs running around them and you'll even see dogs randomly just running around with no one because they let them out the house by themselves, they roam around and go home later. haha its funny. ive seen amillion dogs since ive been here just running around

when the irish say third, as in you live on the third floor.. it sounds like tird hehe silly

They talk extremely fast!!!!! good luck keeping up. its hard to understand. I asked one boy what he thought about how we talk and he said to them we talk so slow he wonders if were going somewhere with the conversation! haahha funny!

well i'll let you know more when i find out and realize other cool things!

    Jack,

I'm enjoying reading your blog. I love the little tidbits of the culture...like the works "crack" and of course the sound of "tird"...LOL.

So, what are your thoughts of the Irish besides talking fast?
What will your story be?
