What is the best ethnic food you ever had that you just can't find at home?

Ramen, not the instant kind, either.

Tales of a Tall, Blonde Gaijin

From start to end, an in-depth look at the experience of living in Japan through the eyes of an overly enthusiastic American girl. My hope is to make this journal less tourist-y and more sociological [not to mention FILLED with pictures once I get there].

I leave in less than 48 hours. Oh. Dear. Lord. I leave in less than 48 hours. Where did all the time go?! It still hasn't hit me, I don't think, that I'm actually GOING to Japan...mom asked me today if I'm excited to be going. I'm not sure that I am yet. Right now I'm just really anxious and wanting to get out of here. I keep running the contents of my suitcase through my head in an effort to make sure I haven't forgotten anything.

I'm also stressing over the lack of time, because now that I'm unavailable, people that have had the last few months to spend time with me [friends, mainly] want one more hurrah before I leave. I've had to turn many of them down because of lack of time.

I have been thinking a lot about what I've been doing. I've actually sat and watched some American television sitcoms that I rarely take part in, knowing I won't for another four months. I've also been indulging in foods that I'm thinking will be scarce, like Italian cooking.

With the exception of a few small things like batteries for my alarm clock, I'm pretty much packed. All documents are in place, my wardrobe covers all sorts of weather.

Speaking of weather, it's supposed be icy and sleeting here on my departure day T-T.
