What was the dumbest thing you ever did while traveling?

Got a plane to New Orleans with a grand total of 6 dollars and 67 cents in my bank accounts, with no idea how much my next paycheck would be. It all turned out okay thanks to free food at Tulane.

Yesterday and today have both been Community Action Project days.  Working on the design for the project was a great experience and am awesome trial run for the way designing is giong to go for the desgin group I'm in.  As much as I love sitting and listening and absorbing knowledge and ideas, I had erally been feeling the need to actually physically do something.  Getting a whole lot of ideas out and then playing with them on paper and talking about them in a group made it feel like something was actually being accomplished.  I think my design group has a good mix of keeping ourselves grounded and dreaming big.

It is probably a good thing that I am going to be a teacher, because I think small children are pretty much the cutest.  The children were really excited to help out with all the jobs we were doing at their school, especially, I gnoticed, with the table bases.  The really really young ones were enthusiastically throwing broken rocks into the concrete table bases and smashing up shingles with hammers to throw in as well.  One little girl in a pink plaid dress was very happy when I lifted her up to jump on top of the rocks and shingles to pack them in.  She didn't want to stop jumping, it aws the most adorable thing.  After working on tables, I helped Amber with the mural of the animals playing on the playground.  We were joined by Jennifer, who taught us how to say a whole lot of Portuguese words and laughed at us for being unable to roll our "r"s.  She because the artistic director of the mural for the morning, telling us what colors to paint things and helping Amber draw the head of the horse.

Although I have spent msot of the past wto days inhaling paint thinner fumes and getting a terrible dizzy headache because of it, it has been incredible to see the kids so excited about the way their school is changing.  And that is more important than the fact that I am dizzy whenever I stand up because of turpentine.
