Well, it's been a while since I wrote but things have just been hectic. It seems like I hadn't had a thing to do all semester until the past two weeks. I survived and here I am. Things are still going great, I find myself getting used to things little by little. I'll probably be right at home right around the time I have to leave. It is going by so fast though, everyone told me watch how fast it'll fly and I figured it would fly by but this is ridiculous. I still don't have the metric system down, when they say it's going to be 19 I quickly scramble for my phone and use the temperature conversion feature to figure out what to wear the next day. I still have the deepest craving for some Fritos, a 3 Musketeers bar, and a cherry coke. None exists here but I am finding that Tim Tam's are amazing, and I found Smarties, which are sort of like an M&M only better in my opinion, that don't exist anywhere I've been in the US. The hills here are killing me though, it seems like everywhere I run or walk I'm always going uphill and never down. The land here is extremely hilly everywhere but the actual city, Sydney. Recently I went to a National Rugby League (NRL) game. The game was between my new favourite team the South Sydney Rabbitohs, and the Sydney Roosters. The atmosphere at this game resembled more of a European football game. The fans were fanatics, flags waving, scarf brandishing, drunk chanting, fanatics. We walked in to be greeted by some local supporters who promptly asked "South's or Rooster?" I felt like the wrong answer would get me beat up, so I said "South's." I was then greeted with a warm smile and a paper with a list of chants and cheers. All throughout the game no matter what happened there was cheering and chanting even during the breaks they would go at it. I found that the NRL game had a much more soccer type atmosphere with deep history behind everything and fanatics in the stands. While the AFL was more like an American football game, with some history and fans that weren't as diehard as their counterparts were. Needless to say, I enjoyed both matches and look forward to hopefully attending some more in the future. The money is one thing that I’ve got used to pretty quick. It’s funny that a pocketful of change can be $20 with the dollar and two dollar coin. The colourful bills are nice to handle with their varying size. As they increase in value the size of the actual bill increases which I thought was pretty cool. Well that’s all for now but I’ll be back a lot sooner next time.
