The first few days of my time here in Huehuecoyotl have been nothing short of breathtaking. From the moment I arrived at the airport, I have been received with warmth and welcoming arms. Each person in the community brings both creativity and inclusiveness in a place where I expected much less. The beauty of the environment, perfectly compliments the vast amount of information and skills we are learning each day.

While we have spent a lot of time, productively working on facilitation skills, I have mostly enjoyed the time outside of the classroom and opportunities to talk with other members of the community.  For example, I had a very valuable encounter with Svante, one of the founding members of Huehuecoyotl. We spoke at length about differing political climates, immigration trends, and issues plaguing the country. This was extremely insightful and eye opening and has even assisted me in writing an essay for an upcoming course. Also, I am having a great time soaking up the city and mingling with the people. I am fairly proficient in Spanish, but have found that there is no better way to learn a language than to be trust into situations in which you have no choice. Many of the people we interact with speak no English, making communicating challenging, but not impossible, so long as we are willing to try.

My time here in Huehuecoyotl is proving to be more enlightening than I could have ever imagined, and I am excited to see what the next two weeks will bring.

I completely agree with you that this experience here at Huehuecoyotl has been amazing and completely breathtaking. I also feel that we have learned the most from talking with the community members and just opening our eyes to what is around us. They all have so much to share with us since they all come from different backgrounds. We do learn a lot in the classroom as well but we have gotten the most out of just exploring. I will definitely miss Huehuecoyotl and all its beauty.
