South American backpacking when we were making our way to Machu Picchu. The windy roads were flooded but there was only one route to follow. We had to push the car through waist-level water and then make it past a bus that was blocking our way from the other side. We hiked through a snake-filled trail where I slipped and almost fell down a cliff. Finally, we hiked up the trail to Machu Picchu with heavy rain. All the while I had a parasitic infection of the stomach which made the entire trek extremely painful and hard to endure. Luckily I traveled with some great friends that helped me along the way.
