Rule of the Day: Chopsticks says to the fork, “I can do anything you can do better!”
Rule of the Day: Chopsticks says to the fork, “I can do anything you can do better!”
I woke up early Saturday morning. I did not want to, but I couldn’t help it because I was eager to start my day. I took my shower (you must see the picture of my bathroom) and set out for an early morning walk. I explored the streets outside the walls of the university and just watched life go by for a few minutes. Then, I walked back to the reception desk to meet Julie, John, and Adam. We walked to Wu Mart and shopped for some necessities. This is when I started noticing the stares. I stick out like a sore thumb pretty much anywhere I am, and people just stare with intrigue. I’m trying to convince myself it’s because they’ve never seen such beautiful mocha goodness.
After Wu Mart, we walked to the CIS in China office (CIS’ partner in China is AEMG). There we had our orientation which basically was Maria showing Adam and me how to get around Beijing and what our program provided.
Then, we walked back to UIBE and ate dinner at the on-campus restaurant. Again, I hardly know what I ate. I did try these bananas with fried dough around it and caramel on top. It was pretty tasty. The only bad thing was that once the caramel cooled down, it was hard to separate and pick up the balls. That's when I learned that chopsticks can slice and poke and lift and drop—in other words I can do anything with chopsticks that I could do with a fork! Hooray!
Oh, I almost forgot! When I got back to my dorm, the power had gone out. I had to go to the reception desk (I got Julie first since she speaks Chinese), and pay for electricity. THEN, I snuggled in my bed and fell asleep.
