Well here I am. sorry its been a long time, i have been pretty busy and immersed in a new place and culture. When I left Chaing Mai I took an overnight train to Bangkok. I will say that i took much longer then i anticipated, 15 hours to be exact. Once I got to bangkok I had one day before I had to get on my plane to the Philippines. I flew into Manila and spent a night in a Very nice hotel. I walked around Makati  (the place in Manila where my hotel was) and basically just wasted time for the day since i was leaving the next morning. My plane was at 11 am the next day (by the way it is 12 hours ahead of home.) and it was only one hour from Manila to Tacloban. I am staying with a host family and there are some other volunteers from Canada here. On of them is staying in the same house as me, so all together there are 13 people in one house. Its a good time :) haha. The Philippines is a Beautiful country, and even though where I am is a pretty poor place, I have never met nicer people in my life. Also, after spending the last month in the middle of Thailand, it is very nice to be around lots of water! So, Mondays Tuesdays and Wednesdays I go to a little village by a dumpsite where I am Attempting to teach about 22 boys and girls how to play baseball. When I showed up the first day to find out who was going to be with me, 2 kids raised their hands and asked what baseball was. I immediately had some concerns Haha. But despite the fact that they have no idea anything about the game, it is going pretty well. There are some kids who actually are surprisingly decent at the foreign game. Then on Thursdays and Fridays i have a tutorial with them, teach them how to speak and read english. There are only one or two that can speak english and even they are limited to their sentences. Most of the kids can read english very well, but I soon discovered that they understand about 5% of the words they are speaking. So in the next couple weeks I will have to figure out a way to get them to start comprehending what they are reading. Some are not interested because for them, english is not a necessity, so to get the whole group going is difficult sometimes. But I am staying very busy and loving ever second of it!

Dont worry, the next update wont take me as long to get up here.  Take care, Ill talk to you soon..

Tyler.
