Today was the last day of our working with the orphanages and children schools. This school was kind of a day school for local children called Padre Pia (please excuse spelling errors). The first remarkable part of today was the trip to the school, this was the area that our guides told us where most of the people were poor and often resorted to crime to make a living. When we got to the school we painted, but the paint smelled more like gasoline and nearly wiped me out. So I made more beads with the kids. I was feeling ill today so I did not get play with the kids as much as last time. I did get to talk to the Pastor via Zack and he described how his kids were forced to sell drugs, while their parents/older siblings act as lookouts, since children can't be arrested for selling drugs. Once again we played soccer (their favorite pastime, evidently) with them. Then came the coolest part of all; the Padre dressed up in his vestments and took us and his children into the church. He thanked us for the work that we did and asked us to recite the lords prayer, after we were done he had the children recite it in Spanish for us and then he blessed us, saying that the Lord would bless us for the good work we were doing and that we got done in four days what it would have taken him two months to do. I enjoyed this school the most and felt that we really helped these kids who truly led a much harder life than I could ever imagine.
Today I felt the effects of what I believe is called Montezuma's revenge. To keep it civil, I kept to my room for the rest of the night, so this will just have to be the end of this epic tale for now.
