 Don't book a guided tour

The first thing western citizen use to think about Egypt is "Oh my God is a Muslim country, so dangerous!". But right now, in this globalized world is easier to die going to work in New York or Amsterdam than having a vacation in Alexandria (Egypt).

Actually. I've been three times in the land of the pyramids. The first one was a guided tour with boat on the Nile included. I must say that it was a crap. I left the country with the feeling of being cheated. Normally there are a lot of offers to travel into Egypt but big signs and low prices, but actually the cheapest way to travel is by yourself.

You can buy a really cheap ticket by internet, and trust me all the companies are more o less the same. For me, it is so important to have a company with baggage insurance, but I think that everbody has one.. When you are preparing the trip you have to buy one of the lonely planet guides, which is the best way of preparing the trip. Then you can book by yourself the reservations at the hotels and the tickets for the monuments.

People used to scared about the language, in fact, not a lot of people speak arabic in the western countries, but this is not a problem because the egyptians speak all the european languages, and when I say all of them is because there are able to speak from Spanish to Russian with some fluency ( I mean enough to complete a transaction)
