Developing World Connections

We're a non-profit organization offering volunteer experiences around the world. We are non-sectarian and have no religious, political or professional affiliations. An International Volunteer Experience with Developing World Connections is an opportunity for you to have a truly life-changing experience. You’ll gain a deeper meaning of what it is to be a citizen of this planet. You’ll discover the lasting sense of perspective that comes from giving hope to people who often have very little and from actually witnessing the difference you’ve made in their lives. You’ll never forget what it feels like to make a connection with people across the globe whose lives are so completely different from yours, and learn how much you actually have in common. Working alongside locals and in a team, you’ll be part of one of our projects in Guatemala, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Rwanda, Swaziland, Cambodia, India or Peru. A trained Developing World Connections Team Leader will accompany your group as your guide and liaison. Come volunteer with us. Our Story: In 2000, President Wayne McRann and Director Dan Miller were working on a Rotary Project in the jungles of Guatemala, helping install a water system for the locals. The experience affected them so profoundly that they felt the need to share it with as many people as possible. And right there in the jungle, the seed for what would eventually become Developing World Connections was planted. That seed of an idea came to fruition with the infamous tsunami of December 2004. After the tragedy struck, Developing World Connections quickly mobilized a grassroots response to help rebuild lives in the affected regions. We became registered as a charity in 2005 and have since grown into an impactful volunteer organization serving on four continents in eight countries. What makes us unique: It’s not a matter of providing “aid” – instead we create mutually beneficial relationships with communities and with development partners. These relationships provide the opportunity for our volunteers to make a real difference, and they offer all participants a chance to learn about their global community.
