  • June 16 Last day in Verona

Travel Journal from Italy Verona, Italy | Tue Jun 16, 2009 | Views: 3277

Tuesday June 16             My last day in Verona.  It is hot, too, at least the third day in a row in the mid to upper 90s.  I actually put on the air conditioner for the first time last night, as I usually do not like them.  But I grew tired of sweating profusely just sitting in my kitchen.             Let me backtrack to Sunday, when I caught up on …

  • My last day in Rome

Travel Journal from Italy Roma (Rome), Italy | Tue Jun 09, 2009 | Views: 2242

June 9  writing about my last day in Rome             Since I had visited the forum and Colosseum in 2001 with Steven, I did not feel the need to visit again.  (However, I have learned from the students who did visit it that there are more informational boards down there in order to reconstruct the original buildings.  They were very excited about seeing the place where Peter—or Paul—was lowered into prison.)              …

Travel Journal from Italy Venice, Italy | Sun May 31, 2009 | Views: 1233

May 31  Verona             Yesterday I went to Venice for the day.  I sound really spoiled saying that, J, but it is really nice to be that close.  I slept a little later than I planned, and I had to wait a while for the bus at San Fermo, but I still made the 9:18 train to Venice.              Got a 12 hour vaporetto ticket and got on #2, but mistakenly the …

Tuesday May 26, 2009  Verona             There has been a dreadful since we arrived in Verona, and the last few days have had : record-breaking temperatures of 95 degrees or more.  I was sweating in a traffic jam for thirty minutes on the way back from Urbino, where the car temperature gage read 34.5 C.  And then finally I found the button for the air conditioning in my little …

[Dear students: I reprint the following email message from Lee Frankel of ASA for your reference here on GoAbroad.net. The apartment rules to which Lee refers can be found in the "Files" section of this GoAbroad.net group. -- Heather Daly]

      Dear Fitchburg Verona Students,

I have just returned from Italy (Verona, Venice, and Rome) and can’t begin to tell you how jealous I am that you all get to stay for a month! When I go for business I get a day, maybe two, in each city and it simply isn’t enough to do all of things I want to. You are going to have an amazing time and I hope you are all excited!

I will be at Logan tomorrow and will get the group checked-in and taken care of. Please don’t get in line at the British Air counter until you have spoken to me as I will need to give you your boarding pass. Please also don’t check-in online tonight as I will be doing that and will getting you seats together. Most importantly, DO NOT FORGET YOUR PASSPORT!

Finally, I have attached some rules that are important for you to read regarding your apartment. They are all common sense rules, but still important for you to know.

Again, have a great trip, take tons of photos, and be safe.

      Ciao,
      Lee
