Shake Interactive will give Hannah the opportunity to learn about the rapidly growing world of digital communications, allowing her to gain incredible experience and develop her skills in graphic design as a part of their Creative team.

I am happy to report after quite some time since my last post that VAC has been doing better than ever, with more to look forward to in the very near future.

Today, for example, we welcomed Hannah to the VAC community!  Hannah arrived yesterday from South Dakota, having recently graduated from the University of Nebraska.  We are excited for her to begin her internship at Shake Interactive (www.shakeinteractive.com), a unique and cutting edge digital consultancy company.  Shake Interactive will give Hannah the opportunity to learn about the rapidly growing world of digital communications, allowing her to gain incredible experience and develop her skills in graphic design as a part of their Creative team. Joan and Gabriela, two of VAC’s program assistants, visited Shake last week and said they were quite impressed by the people and environment of their offices from the minute they walked in.  Tomorrow, when Hannah visits for her first time, we are sure she will be even more anxious to begin working than she already is!

It was too bad Hannah could not join us for last Friday’s excursion to the Paulaner Brauhaus in the Waterfront!  Last week, we had a number of interns leave and head back to their homes before beginning their fall semesters, so those still around were feeling a bit lonely as the rooms in the houses they shared were emptying.  To help raise spirits, the VAC team met about ten of the interns and headed to the Paulaner for delicious German beer and pretzels. It was great spending time with them, and nice to get together so they could meet Gabriela, the newest addition to our staff.  This week we are all looking forward to resume workshop on Wednesday, and a soccer game Saturday!

Although there are no pictures to share from Friday’s fun, I have instead posted photos from the recent wine tasting we did with the interns.  We visited both the La Couronne Estate in Franschoek and Solms Delta on a beautiful afternoon in June.  Thanks to La Couronne for preparing our amazing 3-course dinner and thanks to all the VAC interns who were able to join us for our amazing afternoon in the South African wine country.  For more photos, check out our Flickr page (you can find the link to the side). Even though these are a bit older, look forward to a slue of future posts including photos, videos, and testimonies!
