 All the men and women working there were in period dress as servants and minstrels and each played their part wonderfully. 

We got on the bus this morning and said farewell to our hotel rooms in Galway (and in the case of Mimi and I, MEGABED). On our way to our new destination, Bunratty, we made two stops. The first stop was kind of the middle of nowhere. We did get to climb rocks though, which I always appreciate. It was a nice climb, kind of steep, but there was a great flatness once you got past the first part. While we were up there we saw, surprise, surprise!, more rocks. I found one with a caterpillar on it that I named Bill. There was also a beautiful view of the water opposite and so it was a quite enjoyable place to stretch one’s legs.

Then we got back in the coach and made our way to the Cliffs of Moher. The Cliffs of Moher, in my opinion, were overrated by being a tourist attraction. I had seen many other cliffs in Ireland—some that I thought were much more beautiful—and I wasn’t sure exactly what made the Cliffs of Moher so unique. It was great seeing the distance below though, once you climbed the steps to the top. And we entertained ourselves a bit by walking around the Cliffs and then through the tourist shops.

Our next stop was Bunratty where we stayed in the Bunratty Castle Hotel. That night, we were told, we had a special medieval dinner show (the Bunratty Castle Medieval Banquet) so we were all to dress nicely. Tom picked us up again and we made our way to Bunratty Castle.

All the men and women working there were in period dress as servants and minstrels and each played their part wonderfully. The head actor informed us he was the butler. They had us all wait in a small room where everyone (over 18 that is) was allowed one glass of ale. Then, after a beautiful welcoming song, we were ushered into the dining room. One of the guests (I’m not sure who as he wasn’t part of our group) was to play the role of the master of the house. (Our own Jeff was put into the dungeon!) Anyway, they sang for us throughout the night and served us dinner and the whole thing was fantastic.
