We finally made it to Costa Rica yesterday

We finally made it to Costa Rica yesterday - it was a VERY long journey. We didn´t get any sleep at all on the plane(s) and were pretty delirious by the time we got to Miami, but the bed there was fantastic, so managed to get a few hours despite almost being a part of the airport and having planes coming in and out all night!
Arrived in Liberia at lunch time and went to the hotel we had booked by phone (and had confirmed by a spanish barman in melbourne!) only to discover that it wasn´t booked! We weren´t too phased though coz it was really shitty! Found a better place with a really helpful guy who booked a day tour for us to a national park the next day.
Being Christmas day most things were closed, so we just wandered around, had lunch at a cool little bakery (Josh ordered us pasties after determining what was in them using a variety of animal noises!), dinner at an overpriced tourist trap, watched some fire crackers and kids playing in the park and went to bed....then realised we should check details of the tour ie. where we get picked up etc, only to discover from the new guy, who was not so helpful, that it wasn´t booked! With nothing to do today in a place with not much else to offer we just hopped on the bus, then another bus, then another bus to get to La Fotuna. We managed to find a hotel for one night and are off to Rancho Relaxo (Rancho Margot really, but as if we could help ourselves) tomorrow, which is only 10kms away. We have amazing volcano views - photos of which we will try to get up next time.

Anyway, that´s what´s up with us! We´re off to explore the town and have a beer or swim - mmm decisions, decisions!

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas - love you all

Hi Guys, so good to hear from you at last. We all had a good day Christmas and 'passed out' yesterday [boxing day]...Pants has been a bit of a brat [not liking being left behind I think - trying to rearrange the pecking order but not working] but also staying right on my heels every second! Rod took her for a walk last night...loved her pressie! [will upload some video if possible]
it's great to log on to see what's happening can't wait to hear the next exciting episode... Love you heaps X X

Could you elaborate on the animal noises? I'm intrigued. What animals did you eat in your pasties?
So although you didn't actually sleep on the planes you were very comfy, right?
You clearly can't book anything in advance, so good luck with getting to your desired destination.
