On Sunday we were all ecstatic about being able to sleep in. It was day four and the jetlag was unquestionably kicking in. We had planned on all gathering for breakfast but we all ended up sleeping later than expected. At 11:00 the whole JU crew met and headed to Ormskirk to catch our train to Liverpool. On the train we met a nice couple who told us where to go and what to see. When we arrived we began walking around and observering our surroundings. We stopped outside of one church that had been bombed during WWII. I really began to appreciate all of the history that England and Europe in general have to offer us. It must be so amazing to be able to be part of something with so much background. After that, we went to the largest cathedral in England. I can’t even begin to explain how astounding the architecture and overall feel of the church. Its beautiful red stone walls and stain glass windows created an inviting atmosphere. When we left we enjoyed the incredible sound of the bells ringing as we waiting for everyone to come out. Next we made our way down to the docks where the Navajos had lunch and Kevin ate enough for two like usual. When we were finished, even though Kevin was still hungry, we made our way to the Merseyside Maritime Museum. We read all about Liverpool’s port and how the tragedies of Lusitiana and Titanic affected the city. Unfortunately, we were shoved out of the museum at 5 because once again everything was closing.
After a pleasurable day in Liverpool we jumped on the train and headed back to Edge Hill. The British students were excited to see us when we got back and asked us if we wanted to go to the Venue with them. Apparently, they explained, Sundays are popular party nights at Edge Hill. Despite the fact that we had class early Monday morning, we decided to go and dance for a while. Unless five people on the dance floor is a lot, there really weren’t a lot of people but we still have an amazing time dancing to music that was one the top ten in America five years ago.
