Day two started out with our traditional English breakfast at the Terrace café. I guess the best way to describe it would be misleading. We walked in excited about the eggs, ham, etc. and soon found out that they must really like grease over here. The eggs were drenched in grease so I continued my heavy eating streak and ate a banana.
After that we had a welcome orientation where Chris and Joanna talked to us about security, food, laundry, and culture shock. Dick and Professor H. spoke to us about the classes we would be taking and what would be expected of us. It was tedious, but definitely needed to be done.
After our information filled morning Jackie, Andrew, Lauren, Kevin, Michael, and I decided to take a train to Manchester for the evening. For some reason we were under the impression that the ride would only be around twenty minutes, but it was closer to an hour and a half. We had planed on going to the museum of science and industry but by the time we got to Manchester it was 4:00pm and the museum closed at 5:00pm, so we decided to just walk around and soak in the culture. Although we didn’t do much of anything we all had a blast and were really happy we decided to go.
When we arrived back on campus our British friends took us to downtown Ormskirk. They brought us out to their favorite bars and pubs. It was definitely different to see young girls and old men in the same vicinity, drinking at a bar. All in all, we had a really fun night and team Navajo (not sure how this name came about) was constructed.
