At around 3am I woke up sweating to death and literally gasping for air. Apparently, Kevin and Andrew were cold and both individually turned the heat way up. I was in the middle of the bed but I managed to crawl out and for some reason decided it was a smart idea to lie on the cold tile floor. The cold felt amazing at the time but I woke up an hour later so incredibly uncomfortable and the whole right side of my body was numb. Unfortunately, because I had been in the middle of the bed I didn’t want to crawl back in and wake everyone, so I curled up in the fetal position, a recurring theme of the Barcelona trip, and attempted to fall back asleep.
When everyone woke up we got ready and headed out for our days excursion. First, we crossed the habor in a cable car. It was awesome to be able to look down at almost all of Barcelona. The cable car dropped us off in Montjuiic, a steep hill and park rising at the top of the city. We headed up twisty roads in attempt to find Castelle de Montjuiice which played a huge role in the hill’s obvious defensive part. Unfortunately, we made a wrong turn but got to see a great amount of Montjuiice. We spent some time at the city’s principal Olympic area from the 1992 Olympics. It would most definitely be an understatement to say we walked a few miles. My guess, no exaggeration, would be somewhere close to ten miles, all up hill. I definitely got my workout for the day. After around two hours of hiking and sightseeing we found the Castelle only to find out we had been a few meters away from it hours earlier. The view from the Castelle was magnificent. Montjuiice was definitely and unforgettable day trip.
When we got back to our apartment Jackie and I showered and headed off to Port Olimpic where the night life flourishes. Everyone down at the port was so friendly. We met a ton of new people and danced the night away as the music blared and the lights flashed.
