Raindrops keep falling on my head. (literally and figuratively)
With the technology fail, a bout with a stomach bug, a cancelled weekend trip, dysfunctional calling card, and extreme boredom... it's been a low week. (But the good thing about the stomach stomach bug was that it attacked at the precise moment that my host brother was scooching just a little too close on the couch and I almost puked in his lap). The El Nino torrential downpour that could only be God's wrath on this town is a fitting backdrop.
I was officially initiated into Urubamba night life and unfortunately realized that all the hype was for some flashing lights, awkwards bricheros, and bad music. So now I'm wondering if I'll convert to introversion. That or start a project to make a bowling league of Urubamba :)
If nothing else, at least I can say that as of now I've officially survived almost a month of cold showers, waterless teeth-brushing, washing clothes in the rain, and recycled toilet paper (and by 'recycled' I mean used once, thrown in the bin, picked out and used again). I am hard core.
But honestly, if I had a free ticket home right now I wouldn't take it. It's ok to be in this stage right now, it's good for me. I also got a little kick from the optimism fairy this morning on my run when I passed the houses that were built too close the the river and are now up to the kitchen sink with rushing water. I have a lot to be grateful for.

Shout-out Post a Shout-out
You have to tell me your post address! (I hope you have one there...) If also the internet (or electricity! :( ) stops working you have to have some connection to this our different world, I will send something.
I'm so happy to read your thoughts and views. I couldn't ever live there, for real! Or at least not voluntary... But that why I came to US.
All the best for you and have fun exploring that side of life! :)
