I went for a run this morning around the town.  Of course, when I turned around to come back exactly the way I came, I was magically transported to an identical street that led me to streets that became increasingly unfamiliar.  After about 45 minutes of relying on my keen sense of intuitive direction, I asked a passerby to point me in the direction of the bus station (the only landmark I could remember that I knew how to describe intelligently).  But even once I found my way back to my neighborhood, I realized I had nothing to remember which street or door belonged to my family.  I unsuccessfully knocked on a few (now it's been a little over an hour) and finally asked a policeman if he knew Raul and Eufemia Gonzales.  By the grace of God he knew exactly where they lived--seriously, what are the chances?

Anyways, after that little adventure, my mom served me breakfast (banana, bread and cheese) and I went off to have my Spanish interview.  After that, the other interns and I walked around town for a little bit and saw the market and then went home for lunch (Course 1: choclo--corn with massive kernels that you pick off with your hands--and cheese; Course 2:  a rice/veggie/chicken/french fry dish that has a name that I can't remember).  Pablo and Valeria, hijos de Sandra (super lindos!), taught me a famous Christmas song "Capitan de Madera."  I can never really understand what Valeria is saying, but she is absolutely adorable.

In my downtime, I'm trying to work on my research for my independent study on Spirituality and Religion in Peru.  It's pretty interesting, but computer research is the last thing I feel like doing when I'm here.

Henry and I had quite the philosophical discussion.  I was highly disadvantaged trying to defend my own ideas in my second language, but we agreed on a lot of things--he's also agnostic.  It's surprising how much he knows since he never really went to school, but he reads a lot online.  He's never studied classical philosophy so he's in to all these really weird new-age Japanese religions etc. but I'm trying to keep an open mind to what he has to say.  We had dinner (spaghetti) with the padres and then watched  a Japanese movie called Okuribito (Departures) about a cellist who ends up as a sort of quasi-mortician.  Random
