From Taipei, I took a How Tai Bus to Hsinchu for NT$110. You can also find hotels within Hsinchu City. There's Kingston and Eslite Bookstore near the bus station where you can get a map to travel with around the city. I got one for NT$120. Check photos of Hsinchu City and Tsing Hua Ta Sie (National Tsing Hua University).
