Well here it is, my last day at Bosco. I woke up earlier so that my day would be as long as it could be. I spent some time on the playfield with the boys. Then later in the morning, Sr. Mimi let me take 2 boys with me to Mandeville for the day. According to the boys, she has never done that before. When she told me to choose 2 boys, i knew right away who one of them would be, i just wasnt sure of the second one. My first choice, of course, was Junior. I was torn between 2 other boys, Jermaine Harris and Okeefe Young. They are both MY boys and i spend a lot of time with them both. Jermaine is older, however Okeefe doesn't get to get out much. I figured i would leave it up to Junior. I told him the situation and asked him who he would like to bring. I didnt tell him who i was thinking of. He said i should bring his best friend Jermaine Harris. I was unaware that they were best friends until then. So that made my decision very easy, and i was sure that Sr. Mimi would approve. Before we left, i spent some more time with Junior talking on the playfield. He sure likes to talk. That kid is such a smart kid...he has wisdom way beyond his years. He is the first kid in my 4 years coming here that i can honestly say has firm positive values and beliefs. He knows right from wrong and willingly chooses the right paths in life. His only downfall, however is that he is still too concerned about what other boys think of him. He really doesn't have any friends (he considers Jermaine just someone to talk to). All i know is that he is very respectful towards females, which most of these boys know HOW to be respectful, but choose not to be, but part of that is their culture. He will make a girl very happy some day. Anyways, the 2 boys got dressed and made their way to the convent to meet be because Sr. Mimi wanted it to kind of be a secret thing so as not to create chaos. She dropped us off at KFC by the Manchester Shopping Centre. We stopped by the supermarket so that i could buy them both some treats before continuing. Then we looked for a hardware store so that i could buy some strong steel bolts and chain for the swingset. The bolts and chain that WSU put in was made of soft metal, so it wore through rather quickly. I found some bolts and chain that im almost certain would do the job. Then we ate at KFC. Suprisingly, Jermaine had never eaten at KFC before. I asked Sr. about that, and she said that Jermaine was a trouble kid earlier in his life, so he probably never went. I guess i forgot to mention that Junior wasn't the same Junior in Mandeville that he was a few days ago. He asked me to buy him a certain CD player he saw in a store, and i told him no. I don't mean to be mean, but it was like J$2000 which is almost $40 US. I know that isn't that much, but I had a radio back at my place for him that cranks to keep the batteries charged that i was going to give him. Regardless of that, he gave me the cold shoulder the rest of the day. He wouldn't even let me take his picture. I started to get sad and the more i asked him about it, the more he didnt talk to me. I decided to let it go and try to make the best of it. We found an arcade (which was a task all in itself) finally. I asked some people on the street where a certain arcade was that Sr. Mimi told me about, and they pointed me out to a Clothing Store. I guess in Jamaica (and other countries) an arcade means clothing stores. We eventually found one that had video games, but only half of them worked and they were expensive, so we didn't spend much time there. We made our way back to the Game Store we went to the other day and spent the rest of our day there. After all the game playing, Junior got better. I could tell that he was having fun, even though he was mad at me. Time got short, so we found a taxi (which took like 20 mins) to take us back to Bosco. I made sure they told Sr. Mimi thanks for letting them go. I gave Junior the radio i had, and that made things a little better. He apologized to me for not talking to me. We then spent the rest of the evening putting the swingset together. Me, Junior, and Jermaine cut the chain and bolted it to the swings to hopefully make a swingset that will last a long time. That is how i spent my last day at Bosco. I think overall it was a good day. I was sad at first at how Junior was acting, but i know he got over it. I have learned a lot from him. When i hopefully have kids some day, he has taught me what to do and what not to do to make our lives better. I will pack everything tonight and wake up early tomorrow to spend an hour or so with the boys before i leave at 8:00am for the airport. Well, i gotta get packing...maybe another post tomorrow, maybe not. Hope my posts have been enjoyable and memorable.
