Today was a somewhat busy day. I woke up and as usual, i spent some time on the playfield with the boys. Then Sr. Mimi took me into Mandeville so i could get some shopping done before Grand Market. I was alone in Mandeville for about 3 hours and i took a taxi cab back to Bosco. Being alone in Mandeville was quite an experience. I felt some sort of independence. I was suprised about how much i really knew my way around too. If it werent so hot, i would have walked back to bosco, but it would have taken me forever too. After i got back to Bosco, i helped a lot of the boys to mix cement and carry it to the location of the new greenhouse. It is going to go behind the warehouse. that took a couple of hours to do as well. I had hoped to spend some time at the butcher shop, but by the time i was done with that, it was already 3:30. I spent a few more hours on the playfield with the boys before they ate dinner. I noticed a boy walking another boy to the water spigot and i noticed he was bleeding, so i thought i would check it out. It turned out that Ramone Reid had sliced his finger. He said it hurt to put it under water, but i told him that it would only stop bleeding if he did it. I got it to stop bleeding and i made a bandage out of a piece of my shirt and a string. Last i checked on him, he is doing just fine. It is a shame that boys like him get the bad end of the stick. Its not his fault that he is here. He is one of the few boys here who really doesnt deserve to be...from what i understand, his parents are both too old and senile to take care of him or his brother. His extended family can't support them because they have families of their own to support. Last year when i was here, they came and got him and his brother and took them to a family gathering for Christmas. It was special for them. I know they have a special place in Sr. Mimi's heart because they are so well behaved and like i said before, it isnt their fault that they are here.
Tonight was the staff Christmas party. I hadn't yet seen any of the teachers from Bosco because school let out the week before i came. It was nice to see them again, and it was nice that they remembered me. I pretty much stayed long enough to drink some and eat my catered meal. Since im not really social with them, and i missed my boys, i left to go see them in the rec room before going back to my house. I hope to spend some time in the butcher shop tomorrow since i didnt get to spend it there today. More updates to come!
