Well here it is, 2 weeks (and a few days) since coming back from another amazing time in Jamaica. It seems like a lifetime ago that i was there, but at the same time, it seems like yesterday. I went to Dayton this past weekend to visit some fellow Jamaica people. It was cool to hear that they all are going through Jamaica withdrawal as well. This year, coming back, it wasn't like other years past. I don't consciously "miss" Jamaica as much as I did, and I didn't really realize it until i heard how much some of the other WSU students wanted to be there. I started to worry that maybe it had worn off, but then i realized something. My experience in Jamaica has evolved way beyond experiencing it like the WSU students do. Like i have mentioned before, being there alone takes the experience to a whole deeper level. I realized that i don't "miss" Jamaica like the WSU students do because Jamaica and the Bosco Boys are such a part of who i am when I come back. They live inside of me every second I am away from them. I don't miss them because they are still with me in my heart. I still find that hard to realize at times, but it is so true. I haven't really taken time to look at my pics and vids since i have gotten back, and i am just now realizing that it is because I don't need to look at the pics and vids to remember the boys. My memories are so strong that i wonder how long it will be before i need to look at them to remember the boys. My one resolution after coming back this year is to keep in touch with the most unique boy i have ever met at Bosco, Junior. I want to come up with the funding to be able to sponsor him (and maybe even Jermaine). If not, i will at least send them something cool so they can have some fun. My next big goal, besides going back every year to see them is to come up with a way that i can spend some time long-term (a few months at least) with them. Any suggestions would be gladly accepted. Hopefully I will get the rest of my vids uploaded to Facebook this week...it was just too slow in Jamaica. I have uploaded everything to a Picasa Web Album, so for those of you who are interested in seeing my pics AND vids, you can check them out here: http://picasaweb.google.com/matt.thesoundguy/Jamaica2007. Well, I think that is all for now until i think of things i missed in this reflection. I hope everyone who has gone to Jamaica can keep in touch, and i think it is amazing that i feel like even though i didn't get to go this year, i feel like i know each and every one of the people i didn't get to meet from WSU. I hope to see you all at the get-together on the 22nd at Campus Ministry.
