I forgat to write a lot of things in my last blog. So I'll just start from the beginning. The one thing you'll notice when you arrive in japan is that Japanese people are very polite. At the airport where I was asked if I had anything to declare "uhmm no?", "Is it ok if I open your bag?" If I said no it was probably also ok. He opened it very carefully and just looked, he did not even take things out. And you know those immigration forms you have to fill out, how long you're gonna stay and where you'll be. The only address I had was from the pre-school. So I filled in Kids' Castle, bla bla bla. So he asked "what's kids' Castle?" I explained it was a pre-school and that I'm planning on working there. So you'll gonna sleep there? "...uhm yes?". So I thought oh oh he'll never let me through, but he said ok. And I was in Japan!
On the plane I was sitting next to a dj/journalist for a music magazine, and we just started talking. He has been to Japan a couple of times before, so he explained how some things work in Japan. That was very helpful. We were also on the same train, and we were looking how the japanese people sit on the train, looking straight forward, or sleeping, reading mangas. And I said as a joke in about a year I will be sitting the same way. But I noticed I'm already like that. The train is a very good place to get some sleep ^_^. And everything is so safe here. You could leave your wallet on the ground of a supermarket and the next day it would still be there (I haven't tried it thought). And I just need one little lock on my bike! If this was Rotterdam my bike would be gone the moment I walked out of the store where I bought my bike. Guitars are hanging outside of the shop. No one ever checks what ticket you bought for the train. You do have to go through a gate, but if you don't stick anything in there you could just walk through. But you just don't do it.
I also don't have to urge to write any blogs. And I only have that feeling when I feel at home. So that's a good thing. And also maybe because I'm very tired. Since I've been working since day 1. Literary I went from the airport straight to the school. So I still have to recover from that.
I also went out with my Thai friends. And of course to a Thai karaoke bar!! They had Singha beer, Thai food and all Thai people. I was back in Thailand for a second. I was amazed how many Thai people live here. I had a lot of fun and stayed there until the morning. But I had to work that saturday :S, so straight from the bar I went to the school. Oh man! Also went to a Thai restaurant yesterday, and there were some Japanese people there, and now you can really see the big difference between Thai and Japanese people. Japanese people are very friendly, but Thai people are so much more open.
People also asked me about the school and what my duties are. First of all teaching of course. We just teach them normal things for kids that age. Life lessons, things about animals, countries, tell them stories those kind of stuff. But we have kids ranging from 2,5 to 6 years old. But the really small kids still wear diapers, and still need help to go to the toilet. Uhum so that's also our duty :(. And on monday I teach English at my own condominium, kids around 7 year old.
Everything has button in Japan. On doors (yes you have to press the door, to open it), on the bathtub, everywhere. And it's all in Japanese, so usually I don't know what it's for. I just press it and hope no alarm goes off (and yes an alarm went off one time).
I'll upload some pictures here soon.
