Olympia
So today I traveled with a couple of exchange friends to the town of Olympia to go Thermas Laranjais which is a water park made out of natural springs. The interesting thing about it is that it is WARM/HOT all the time even during the 45 degree celsius summers, and the Brazilians love it!
Sometimes I can't even stand the heat alone itself let alone being in boiling water with it.
But after going there a couple of times, I'm used to it and its fun, especially with a group of friends from five different countries.
Its just nice hangin with friends especially with one with whom you've shared comradary with.
So my Australian friend Jackson and I got up at seven this morning, grabbed a taxi to the bus terminal at 730 and left for Olympia at 800 which is about an hour by bus. So we as we get on the bus we buy our tickets but while the lady was making the tickets, our friend shannon calls us and says that she's already bought ours and we don't need to buy them. So we ask the woman to stop and she gets almost as mad as someone can get cause apparently she would have to pay for the tickets with her own money. Jackson was just going to let her stay like that cause she could have sold them to the next passengers but I ended up paying her for them cause together they ended up being only five dollars which I didn't think was worth it enough to have a hell mad brazilian woman on us for an hour. Sometimes its just better to go the hard way and let them be happy.
We finally got dropped off on the outskirts of the city and had to walk and find our way to the water park about 5km away, it was actually pretty fun looking around a new city. On entering the park we started a day full of wave pools, slides, and sand pools. The sand pool is very different from anything I've ever experienced, there's a deep whole that shoots sand up so that you float on the shooting sand, its a very weird experience. My australian friend jackson then proceded to show us the 'white whale' which consists of jumping out of the water like a whale with the only difference you're pulling your pants down a little so that the whiteness of your butt is visible to everybody. This proceded to Will, my south african friend, trying it too, the only problem he had was his face in the ground. His face ended up being scratched in five different places. He made the whole thing pretty funny though by the first thing him saying after it stopped bleeding was whether he'd still be able to hook up. so around five we left the water park and barely grabbed a bus back to Rio Preto. The bus was so packed that shannon sat on top of francesca(south african) and casey(texan) sat on top of jackson(australian). Will and I ended up sitting on the stairs in the very back of the bus up to the high back seats. So that about sums everything up of the day, from crazy brazilian bus cashier to white whales, it was another great day in Brazil.
