exchange orientation week
This was one of the most exciting weeks of my exchange in brazil. All of the exchanges from district 4480, my district here, came to Rio Preto for a week for rotary orientation. The week started out with us going to the Guarana Cotuba soda factory on tuesday. It was pretty cool to see all the machines and how they all make the bottles and soda. Guarana is a soda unique to brazil, I personally like it more than Coke. During the tour I asked one of the workers if I could have one of the big soda filled bottles of the line and he actually gave it to me. It pretty much made my day to drink off the line in a soda factory, eventually my bottle made it to all of the exchanges mouths and nobody was willing to drink the last of it. We ended the tour with a little speech from the owner of the factory thanking us for visiting that we had just had a taste of brazil. Later that day all of the exchanges went to the mall together and just hung out. On wednesday we all went to a different city which is famous for its water park. What was strange for us was that all of the water was heated even though the temperature of the day was in the 90s (fahrenheit). It was still really cool going on all the slides and just hangin out with all the exchanges. My personal best friends are from mexico and germany, Ricardo and Johannes. That night a whole bunch of exchanges and I went out to a restaurant to hang and have dinner. The next day was an orientation from our chairman that consisted of the rules and a presentation from brasilian former exchanges. It was a pretty cool day. The next day two representatives from Belo Brazil Tours came to our orientation to talk about the trips we could take. There are some pretty cool trips including a trip starting in Rio de Janeiro and traveling all along the beach until they end in the northeast. Other travels include Pantanal, Machu Picchu, and Amazon. Overall this week of orientation was amazing getting to know people from norway to australia to mexico that I´ll always be able to have friendships with.
