The most interesting thing were the opposing team and how they had to stay in a plastic box, so there were no fights between the rival fans.
On Sunday I attended the Fiorentine and Palermo soccer game with a group of about 150 people through an organization called Florence for Fun. It was an unique experience and although we had a big group of Americans with us, we were appreciated by the Italians for cheering for their home team. We chanted some Italian words and songs that I had no idea what were about, but you just throw your hands in the air and try to repeat what they say. We ate popcorn and watched the gruesome game, which started at 3 in the afternoon and was over a couple hours later. It was a close game until the second half where Palermo scored two goals and won the game. The most interesting thing were the opposing team and how they had to stay in a plastic box, so there were no fights between the rival fans. When they scored two goals the Fiorentine fans were inraged and they needed police to stop them from fighting with the other teams fans. Here was one of the chants we were singing:
Fiorentina
-Alè alè alè, viola alè
-Forza viola alè
-Ooh Fiorentina
-Segna per noi, forza Fiorentina
-Forza viola dalla curva si alzerà
