Toot Suite

Bonjour I had another lovely weekend here in paris. I can hardly keep
track of all the things that I did but I toured around by myself on friday
which was exciting. I just went around the Hotel de Ville near the Ile de
la Cite and walked around near the Notre Dame and then I explored up to the
Tuileries and and the Montmartre an artsy area and the Montparnasse and I
saw the Sacre Coeure and the La Madeleine and the Bastille and many other
little shops and charming cafes and theatres and parks. Florance took me to
a cafe chein noir and then we went out with some of her friends who are very
sweet and kind. They all helped me with my french and everyone was excited
to meet an american. The nightlife is big here and very diverse and
exciting with discotechs et cafes. On Saturday, Florance and I rendez vous
avec elle copain Alex a Champs Elysees and then we ventured into the opera
quarter. I saw the lovely Opera House and we looked around at all the chic
shops on the avenue like Vuitton, Chanel, Doir, Tiffany, etc. Then I went
to dinner at the house of some friends of Florance and we stayed out late
but it was a delicious meal of melon, bourdeaux vin rouge, le porc, et la
flan. Today I went to high mass at Notre Dame and then went to high brunch
at the Jacquemart Andre Museum which was so lovely_look it up on the
Internet; it is so beautiful with french and italian tapestries and frescos
by Boucher et Fragonard. Then we traveled around the area, the Tuileries
quarter and we visited the World Bar designed by Paul Smith. I also saw an
exhibit about Grace Kelly at the Hotel de Ville. We passed all sorts of
street fairs and markets and we visited le parc jacquemare. It has been so
wonderful so far, you haveto experience it to know, oui? Bonjour Je

Please forward all my emails back to moi? Merci

Hello!
Ok, after the Eiffel Tower, we got back and went to the Champs Elysees to
dance-Kandall, Liz, and I. On Thursday, all nine of us girls went to a
international talent show and then a really famous restaurant in Mountmarte.
Apparently, they have the best fondue in the world and it was very
good-cheese and white wine mixed and we dipped in bread, olives, cheese,
potatoes and everything! They also served their drinks in baby
bottles-crazy! Kendall, Sarah, and Becca and I hung out on the lawn near
Sacre Coeur and then we went a Rummerie for hot drinks and then we went to a
really famous club for international students called the Mix-it was so fun
and we met students from everywhere, ireland, italy, russia! I saw my
friend David Koch from workcamp there!
Friday was the Hotel de Ville tour so we did not have film class and then I
went to Paris Plage again and then bought groceries. My friends and I hung
out in Pompidu square and saw the sun set and we walked around.
Saturday, we got up early and we planned to do both the catecombes and
Monet's Gardens but by the time we finished the tour of the catecombes, it
was 2ish and the train had left so we saw the french film Mis Amis, Mis
Amors. It was cute and fun to see some contemporary french films as our
professor generally only shows us older films. Paris has so many film
festivals right now, btw!
The catecombes was scary but interesting-it was very far underground and
there were millions of ancient bones and skulls arranged in patterns and it
was damp and cold.
The film was a nice pick me up-only 6 to see a movie and 4 to see the
catecombes. Then Liz and I went to Montemarte again and we walked to see
the Moulin Rogue light up but we left right away because it is in a very
seedy area. The Moulin Rogue was very pretty though with giant windmills.
We went for ice cream and then we met up with Sarah, Kendall, and Becca and
we went to Chatlet and walked around.
