my first night on french soil
my flight was smooth - no problems. jet lag doesn't seem to have started affecting me yet, it was probably still too early. i arrived only a few hours ago. mme bourdeau welcomed me at the airport in a car that she didn't drive - she didn't know how. she had recruited a girlfriend to do the deed.
i was happy to see a friendly face in a sea of gray. i hope that the other three assistants from jamaica had met upon as good a fortune as i had. i hope they had room and board and were warm.
mme bourdeau, the mother of my final year lecturer in french back home in jamaica, is a very kind lady. she and i have already become friends. at the airport we did the 'bises', twice on both cheeks and when she was going to bed earlier tonight she kissed me six times. i counted them. she is doing all that is necessary to help me settle in and be comfy in france.
and we musn't forget the cats, especially the big fat one that scraped me earlier, and bonjour the dog whose favourite pastime is to jump on me because he loves me i surmise. with the whole day's excitement tension apprehension and calm relaxation resolve in mind i just have to say a million thanks to god. and pray that the other girls are okay. and missing the lover i left at home in jamaica.
