I had turned 21 in Aussi and I was loving life. Except there was a special prize in store for me... a trip to the Whitsunday Islands. I was going with a few mates from my school but I would make many more on board the ship. We traveled via Virign Blue to a small town called Proserpine. From there we traveled to Airlie Beach. Airlie Beach was absolutley amazing and the weather couldn't have been any better. My two friends and I walked around the island for a while before finally heading down to the docks to board the ship.
The very first nite aboard the ship was great. The catamaran we were on had a huge space in front of the cabin that we could lay out on. While the boat cruised towards the Whitsunday Islands I sat out listening to music enjoying the whitsunday breeze in my face.
The second day was pretty aweseome as well. The boat was a bit cramped and it turned out that our boat had bed bugs which was a tad unfortunate. Lucky for me, I had no bites in the morning. So the first day we decided to go snorkeling over a good part of the Barrier Reef. I discovered that much of the Great Barrier Reef had been destroyed because of tourists. Nonetheless we were determined to get the best of it.
The Barrier Reef itself was breathtaking. In fact, what I thought was even better was Whitehaven Beach. The beach was on one of the large islands in the Whitsunday Islands and had absolutley crystal white sand. To top that off, the sand was so soft and soothing that every step you took, your feet would sink in making you feel utterly relaxed as if it were therapeutic sand.
The after our boat trip we came back to land and the final night was epic. After two solids nights of bonding with everyone on our boat, we decided to have one last good night before going our separate ways. The highlight of the night was probably meeting so many people from all over Europe at the Beaches Hostel and going out with everyone thereby making it one of the best nights in Australia.
